Lysianne Léchot Hirt is Dean of studies at Geneva University of Art and Design (HEAD–Genève). Before joining Geneva University of Art and Design, Lysianne Léchot Hirt directed the Bureau des activités culturelles of the University of Geneva (2000-2003) and worked for 13 years at the Centre for contemporary images Geneva (1987-2000), where she was responsible for the video art collection. Lysianne wrote many articles about contemporary Swiss artists for Geneva newspapers and art catalogue texts, organized and moderated many international symposiums, the most recent ones about design and art research : Fashion in Words (Geneva, 2013), Practicing Theory. Or: did practice kill theory? (Geneva, 2011) AC*DC contemporary art, contemporary design (Geneva, 2007), Drawing New Territories: the best of design research (Geneva 2006), and a.o. Site Mapping (Basel and Bern, 2001 and 2000, focus : New Medias) and Landmarks (Geneva, 2000, focus: art in public spheres). Her current research interests are in design theory and design history. She led research projects commissioned by the CTI Swiss Confederation Innovation Agency and the Strategic Fund of the University of applied sciences Western Switzerland. She published Recherche-création en design. Modèles pour une pratique expérimentale. Geneva: Metis Presses, 2010. Espace public et mobilier urbain. Une recherche-projet en design. Genève: HEAD, 2011 and gave many papers in international design research conferences.
